OUR SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS

FARMING

01. Livestock Farming

We currently have 10 cows in our herd which we keep mainly for milk. We produce about 40 liters daily. Besides making tea for the children we sell the milk at the local shops and to individuals. We have a large herd of sheep and goats which we keep for meat. One can support this project by adding to the herd or purchasing these products.

02. Vegetable Farming

We grow various vegetables for subsistence and for sale. They include kales, cabbages, spinach Managu, Amaranth, dhania, carrots, tomatoes and potatoes.

We have ventured into onions as a major cash crop where we produce up to 5 tons of onions per acre.

BEE KEEPING PROJECT

We have set apart a section of our farm for bee keeping. We have 30 bee hives which are handled by proficient and highly trained personnel. We harvest between 60-200 litres of honey on one harvest. We don’t process our honey in any way and therefore attracts high value in the market for its purity.

We currently sell our honey locally. One can support this project by purchasing our honey or buying us bee hives.

WATER KIOSK

Shelter is located in an area where water is inaccessible. We have sold over 10,000 cubic metres of water to the locals. Through HRS True Hope we installed the solar power borehole system helping to ease on power cost thereby maximizing on the proceeds.
